Well… At least it\’s not blogger…..

My wife needed some testing done- So yesterday we both took off work and went to the hospital to get it taken care of. We walked in and sat around for awhile- They came and gave her a nice cup of barium – yeah… she really enjoyed that… she said it tasted like somebody used frozen pennies as ice cubes in a cup of vanilla soy milk… and then the tech who was going to do the thyroid test noticed that she was scheduled for two incapatable tests. The iodine solution they were going to inject her with for the CT scan would cover up the thyroid scan…. Wonderful!

So they gave her some pill from a lead bottle and told us to go eat and come back at 1pm… Oh yeah… they did an ultrasound on her thyroid before they let us go…. so we went and ate and went back at 1… They did that test and told us to come back this morning.

So this morning, we went back and they finished up the thyroid test, gave her another cup of barium, and had us sit around forever… Then they pulled her back for her CT scan. Told me it would take 5 minutes or so and we’d be out of there… About 20 minutes later they came and got me… she had an allergic reaction to the iodine solution they injected her with…. Broke out in a few places. I walked back and they had her sitting there hooked up to the BP machine and all that… Poor thing… what a way to find an allergy….

Anyway- the tests are done- We’ll find out the results on Monday… Thanks to those who wandered by her site and have had her in your thoughts and prayers… It is appreciated!

  3. May the Lord be with both of you as you await the results, and may His healing hand remove anything that shouldn’t be there.

  4. I hate medical testing. I’m the only person I know who fainted in the “resting phase” of a stress test, lol.

I hope all is well, my thoughts and prayers are with y’all.

  5. I hope everything turns out ok… I have had my fair share of experiences with barium. Not fun stuff at all. I will keep both you and Mrs. Guppy in my prayers for sure!

  6. Man, I’ve had to drink a thing of barium once when they needed to do an upper GI study. It was years ago. Worse part? After I downed it, the sheriff’s office came in with a prisoner. He got preference, so I had to sit out in the hall in my flimsy gown. By the time they were ready for me, the barium had moved too far along my system, so I had to have another barium shake. Idiot didn’t mix this one as well giving me a mouthful of what can only be described as chalk from a rat’s ass … I am now lying in the fetal position crying softly at the mere memory of it!
